Follow-up Comment #3, bug #26773 (project grub):
grub2 is in the meanwhile stable.
It should be much more bugfree then grub-legacy.
I don't know what it means that Gentoo masks but Debian lenny + Ubuntu jaunty
both ship with it and you can choose to install it.
I don't think there's currently any distro which uses grub2 by default, but
for the next Debian release we want to make it the default.
Ubuntu is planning the same AFAIK for karmic.
