be aware that not always there is someone available for tech support.
Except readlink/stat problem I was able to use freebsd with GRUB
successfully (BIOS,GPT, ZFS).

IRC (irc.freenode.net) is the best way to discuss something relating to
your configuration unless you hit a bug.

Subscribe to address@hidden Voice your opinion on the matters that
concern you, submit patches there too. You may create a personal
repository to make tester's life easier. When you contribute something
important the maintainer will contact you to sign few papers stating
that you wrote the code yourself, own it and give FSF the power to
protect it. This results in a delay before big patch can be applied but
in most of cases it's resolved quickly.
