grub-mkconfig ignores "GRUB_DISABLE_LINUX_UUID=true"?

Hi,

according to the docs a GRUB_DISABLE_LINUX_UUID=true
in /etc/defaults/grub should supress the usage of UUID?

Bug, feature or do I missunderstand the meaning of 
"GRUB_DISABLE_LINUX_UUID=true"?
