GSL group,
c.c. R.M.S
gsl-1.16.tar.gz, gsl-2.0.tar.gz, gsl-2.1.tar.gz
http://ftp.gnu.org/gnu/gsl/
ftp://ftp.gnu.org/pub/gnu/gsl
Samsung NC-10 32 bit Netbook with 2 Intel(R) Atom(TM) CPU N270 @1.60GHz
Slackware-14.0 with gcc-4.7.1 and gcc-gfortran-4.7.1
CFLAGS and CXXFLAGS are "-O2 -march=i486 -mtune=i686"
This also occurred, though not thoroughly checked, on Windows ported gcc
versions..
Noting that this may be a bug.
I report that the compiled library version numbers for the listed gsl downloads
are as follows:
gsl-1.16 (libgsl.so.0.17.0)
gsl-2.0 (libgsl.so.0.18.0)
gsl-2.1 (libgsl.so.0.19.0)
I had been looking to compile gsl as a dependency for either of Haskell hmatrix
related packages or the Perl module PDL::Stats.

P.S. Incidentally http://www.gnu.org/software/gsl/ displays a screenshot
instead of a download page.
