Yes, worrisome.  Thanks for noticing.  I've just set up my crontab to
send me email so I can see why it's failing...should have been done long
ago.

At the moment it's easier to just have it update daily (instead of the
previous(ly faulty) weekly update).  I can set up something where I
rsync the gsrc-commit archive and then do a Make target like you
mention, though.  That's probably a better plan in the long run.
