Trouble compiling Guile 1.4 on HP-UX 10.20

I'm using CFLAGS="-Ae +O4" and the HP ANSI C compiler to compile Guile.

Compiling eval.c gives me the following stack of errors that doesn't
make an awful lot of sense.  Compilation succeeded on Alpha, SGI, Sun
(all with vendor-provided compilers) and Linux (gcc) without any
problems.

Any ideas?
