This commit is older than the fix:

Probably this comes from a confusion: ‘sudo guix pull’ updates
~root/.config/guix/bin, but ‘sudo guix system reconfigure’ runs your
user’s ~/.config/guix/bin.

If you use sudo, what you need to do is:

  guix pull  # without sudo!
  sudo guix system reconfigure …
