I'm not really testing this, but I just stumbled onto something.
If you look into [hurd]/exec/exec.c you'll see stuff like:

#ifdef _STDIO_USES_IOSTREAM

# error implement me for libio!

I guess that should be fixed before migrating to libio completely.
