I agree with you.  Messages should just go to stderr.

The reason diskfs has a special option is because a bootstrap
filesystem needs to function specially.  Note that that code is only
used for bootstrap filesystems, and only libdiskfs supports being one
of those.

There's no real value in making libnetfs be a bootstrap filesystem at
this point.
