I now found more info at www.recordholders.org:

"The longest host name ever used"
www.tax.taxadvice.taxation.irs.tax-services.taxrepresentation.taxpayhelp.internalrevenueservice.audit.taxes.com

A jolly 111 characters long!

"The longest domain names are names like"
halloffameofinternationalincredibleuniquerecordsoutof36thousand.com

(DNS RFC says 63 letters is the maximum number of letters that can be
registered as a domain name.)

I'll stop here, as much fun as it is.

Thanks,
Marcus
