I am only in favor of fishy lashing for old-format or ed-format diffs.
-c is perfectly usable, though not as pleasant as -u.

I've instead removed the volatile from the declaration in hurd.h to match
the definition. There isn't really any need for volatile with the way
_hurd_umask is used.
