There might be a problem with the unix domain sockets.  Please try to
get more infos, for example, run "ps -F hurd -A" in one window, and
vmstat 2 (or antoher number of seconds) in another window,
and look for something suspicious.  I have seen the pflocal process to
go mad and grow without bounds.

It would be perfect if you could debug the problems, but giving some
data points would be helpful anyway (in fact, without more data we can
not say anything but sorry until we see the problem ourselves ;)
