I am trying to boot into Hurd and I have the following problems. My Hurd
parition is ~998 MB and is below the 2GB and 8GB boundaries on my second
hard drive. I enter the following commands at the GRUB command line:
root (hd1,1)
kernel /boot/gnumach.gz -s root=device:hd1s2
module /hurd/ext2fs.static --multiboot-command-line=${kernel-command-line}
module /lib/ld.so.1 /hurd/exec $(exec-task=task-create)
boot
Then GNU Mach boots and scrolls through the boot messages until it comes
to the following lines and it stops:
2 multiboot modules
task loaded: /lib/ld.so.1 /hurd/exec
It freezes here. I checked and I am not doing any IRQ sharing. I have
followed all the other instructions from the Hurd Installation Guide you
guys have posted on the web site. I also downloaded the
gnu-latest.tar.gz as of yesterday. Can anyone help me?
Also, I would like to join the development of Hurd. I am a computer
science major in college right now. I haven't had an operating systems
class yet but I have taken data structures and algorithms. I figure that
this is a good chance for me to learn systems programming. Is there any
way I can help and volunteer my time?
Thanks,
James Lacey
