Why? GNU/Hurd is a great system, and it would be even better if
more people worked on it. Yet it has its shortcomings, as we
all know. No OS could IMO cover all aspects. Just think of
embedded OS(es) (both time-triggered and interrupt-controlled),
OSes for SIMD and MIMD architectures, ...

Ah, you meant "Desktop/Server OS?". Well... ;-)
