As always with reporting bugs you should add more details, how did you
run parted, what version of parted was it, etc.

I'm guessing that this is the parted Debian package, so running gdb on
that will not give you anything that is even remotly usefull unless
you can grok IA-32 assembler.  You will probobly have to compile it
yourself so that you can get debugging symbols.
