It is a list where discussings are taking place about how the GNU
system should look like; more or less.

More or less, it all depends on if you wish to hack on GNU Mach (fix
bugs, add/update drivers, etc).

   How about the steps to L4 microkernel? Is there any documents
   explaining roadmaps to L4?

Yes, you would need to checkout the hurd-l4 module from CVS.  Just
added it to the list of things to checkout in
http://www.update.uu.se/~ams/gnu/cvs...  You could also just access
the CVS repositor directly via www and look at it; see
http://sv.gnu.org/projects/hurd.

   I understands pthread support is not completed, yet?  How can I
   help here?

What would be nice is to have a testsuite for pthreads that checks
that things work as they should.  From what I remeber the pthread
implementation in the Hurd will be ditched infavor of NPTL.  So a
testsuite that uses and abuses pthread functionality will be a good
thing when someone will start writting a NPTL implementation for the
Hurd.
