Actually, I remember reports of it running in Bochs — a free software
x86 emulator, where it is a bit slow (don't know the state of plex86
module for Linux kernel), and you're probably thinking of it Ognyan. 

I read (on hurd.gnufans.org?) that it doesn't run with vmware, but I
never tried it, so I can't tell for sure.
