   the nptl and linuxthreads add-ons should be disabled for GNU/Hurd.

They are disabled for the Hurd; don't use --enable-add-ons the way you
are using it.

Then your system is broken.

   * Reliability of paths.
     The Python interpreter will always be available as
     '/package/misc/spf/python/bin/python'.

And that won't work on any other system then yours where as ...

     No need for '#!/usr/bin/env python' hacks.

... will (and env is usually installed in /bin anyway).

   Everyone, feel free to ask questions if you want to know more about
   that system.

It all seems like a basterdised version of stowfs/packagefs.
