Barry: I can have a look at your patches when I'm back from the one-week
trip with our local music association's youth.  In the mean time: a good
way for testifying that you didn't break anything would be to compare the
compiled object files (however don't let changed file paths of the
debugging information in the object files confuse you) of a pristine and
a modified source base.  If Samuel agrees that your patches are fine and
also nobody else vetoes, then he shall be free to check them in, with
appropriate ChangeLog entries.
