Leonardo, I think that there is a simple moral truism: Everybody is
responsible for the foreseeable consequences of their actions and
inactions. This puts us, frequently, in difficult situations where we
don't know how to act in a responsible manner, because we are forced to
choose in specific situations between the conflicting implementation of
different values we deeply care for.

I will not tell you what to think or not to think about Alfred, and
specifically about his behaviour towards this group. However, I will
tell you that if you make yourself a proxy for these attacks and
insults, I will make sure you will suffer a similar consequence as he
did for them. But because I have learned a lot from the past situation,
it will be a much quicker process than in the past. Before you judge
me, please consider the choices that I face, and what consequences my
inaction on this matter would have.

It may be that you do not have sufficient facts to consider my position.
If you want, I will privately send you an e-mail with more information.

Let me add a personal note: I recognize, and have sympathy for, the
Voltaire quote above. If freedom of speech is your motivation, then I
can understand your goal. However, I am quite disappointed that you
chose such a crude and blunt way to achieve it, a way that disrespects
earlier decisions made by this group in a long and overly painful
process, instead of looking for ways (which are readily available and
easy to find) to achieve this goal while reducing the potential harm.

Everybody has the right of free speech. But everybody also has the
right not to listen. If we want to be spoken to, and if we want to be
heard, we have to make a bigger effort than just pointing at fundamental
rights and doing what we want without considering the needs and wants of
everybody else.

Thanks,
Marcus
