I think this is not specific to nfs as I have seen a similar behaviour
with apt. ie, if you forgot to place a '/' at the end of '/cdrom' apt
fails to mount the cdrom as it uses the trailing '/'. So as a work
around we used '/cdrom/' in /etc/fstab.
