This could be due to padding (leaving space on the inside of the object).

But I remember similar pains from setting up my own pages, so I'm not sure how to avoid it...

Just be sure to test it in as many browsers as you can. CSS implementations aren't as standardized as they could/should.

Putting "margin-top: 10px" into the .newsitemheader might be safer.
