Git uses UNIX concepts extensively, and thus can be easily customized
with shell scripts, or any other scripting language of your choice...

This is one of the really really great things about Git. All software
should be like that; and in case I didn't make it clear already: this is
indeed the major reason I'm interested in the Hurd. (It extends the UNIX
concepts in a natural manner, making them powerful enough to indeed work
for any kind of software, including interactive applications dealing
with complex data...)
