Well, I don't think anything you write specifically for Haiku could be
used on the Hurd. I don't think there is any design similarity; so
porting the bits from Linux directly shouldn't be any harder.

However, any new port will surely help working out portability problems
in general, and thus make further ports to other architectures easier
:-)
