GSoC proposal: Java support and bindings

Hi,

I just submitted the final version of my proposal for this year's GSoC
(sorry for the last minute submission). The project would consist in
improving Java support on Hurd, and create Hurd bindings for Java.
The proposal is available on the Hurd wiki as well as google-melange:

I would be glad to discuss it here or on IRC with anyone interested.
I will attend future IRC meetings and generally hang around on #hurd
as often as possible.

Would anyone be willing to mentor such a project? (I don't expect I
would require too much guidance since I already have some experience
with the Hurd.)

Also, since I mentionned them in my applications, I attach my current
glibc patches with regard to POSIX thread signal semantics. They are
implemented in an "opt-in" fashion. The idea is that libpthread would
enable these semantics on the threads it creates.

I have been running a patched libc on my Hurd system for a few weeks,
without problems so far, however this is on a mostly idle system,
and without enabling anything in libpthread. More work will be required
in any case.

So this is not a formal request for review of these patches, but I send
them more as a way for anyone interested to evaluate my progress on this
issue. Of course I would be glad to discuss them as well, however if you
want to do this, please remember to change the Subject: line accordingly.
