Unfortunately, I don't think there are any "quick" things to fix -- at
least in this area. You might want to look for other ideas on
http://gnu.org/s/hurd/contributing.html :-)

Regarding the toolchain, presently it's mostly GDB that gives us
headaches; so you might want to look into that.
