I have troubles starting X11.
If I run startx, I see:

X: unable to determine if running on a console
X: user not authorized to run the X server, aborting.
xinit: giving up

Reading http://www.debian.org/ports/hurd/hurd-install about X.Org.

Right so, I thought that because of the new login style I already had a "console".

if I run

console -d vga -d pc_mouse --repeat=mouse -d pc_kbd --repeat=kbd -d
generic_speaker -c /dev/vcs

as root, the console goes crazy and keeps just spittin out characters, if I hit
a key it gets repeated ad libitum.
