It was not easy to decide. In your case, the valgrind project would be
very welcome, but the xattr and GuixSD seemed more important. Also, the
valgrind project is a very difficult one, needing a very good level
in C. You have shown a valgrind contribution, but it is relatively
simple. You admitted yourself that you only have "reasonable grasp" on
C. Given the limited amount of slots, we preferred to choose the xattr
and GuixSD projects.

So it is not really a precise pitfall, your application was not bad, it
was just not good enough.  You could perhaps work on C with projects
much easier than valgrind.
