Hi!

more information on this laptop too. This one, as said, boots, but has no network. Also lspci under HURD hangs.

Under Linux, lspci shows:
00:00.0 Host bridge: VIA Technologies, Inc. VT8378 [KM400/A] Chipset Host Bridge
00:01.0 PCI bridge: VIA Technologies, Inc. VT8235 PCI Bridge
00:07.0 CardBus bridge: Texas Instruments PCI1410 PC card Cardbus Controller (rev 02) 00:08.0 FireWire (IEEE 1394): Texas Instruments TSB43AB21 IEEE-1394a-2000 Controller (PHY/Link) 00:10.0 USB controller: VIA Technologies, Inc. so, we have a VIA Rhine-III

dmesg shows this:
[    6.860096] via_rhine: v1.10-LK1.5.1 2010-10-09 Written by Donald Becker
[    6.940511] via-rhine 0000:00:12.0 eth0: VIA Rhine II at (ptrval), 00:c0:9f:37:94:6b, IRQ 4 [    6.941301] via-rhine 0000:00:12.0 eth0: MII PHY found at address 1, status 0x7869 advertising 05e1 Link c5e1

Can this work under HURD?

Thanks,
Riccardo

2) An Acer Aspire with authentic AMD CPU and VIA Graphics usually supported by the OpenChrome driver (which depending on the OS distribution may be buggy, e.g. on Alpine Linux this computer is unusable with X11) Here HURD "boots" then gets to DHCP and waits a looooong time (I thought it was frozen, the first time I power-cycled) but eventually I get to console. No network though.
I guess that maybe the network card is not recongized or not configured?
Lacking "dmesg" and "lspci" how can I investigate this more and give you more information? Should I boot another OS and tell you the model information of this card?
