For the records, I strongly believe that this is bullshit.
You might want to explain why you think it is so instead of resorting
to a unfriendly tone. I use them quite frequently when debugging
network protocols, and timing issues, and I know many more network
administrators that would be quite upset to deprecate a tool that they
use on a daily basis when debugging network issues.
