Details:

I have an odd problem with this code.  Sometimes after
some seemingly simple change the compiler can't compile
it anymore and loops endlessly.  Unfortunately I was
unable to produce a small test case, so I attached the
whole file.  It also depends the the ASM library
http://download.forge.objectweb.org/asm/asm-3.2.jar.

Usually I compile it with
CLASSPATH=/tmp/asm-3.2.jar  kawa --main -C jas.scm

Now the strange thing is that this command sometimes
completes and sometimes not.  If I repeat it like 10
times I see it both terminate and not terminate (and I
have to abort it by pressing C-c).  I tried this on
another machine and it's unpredictable there too.

That's with Kawa 1.9.90 (revision 6502M)

I also attached a backtrace taken after interrupting a
looping compiler.
