Good call.  I've made sure that $ac_ext and $ac_objext are used
correctly in ltdl.m4 and libtool.m4, so things should be somewhat
better now... however there are still some bugs lurking in
autoconf-2.13 that will trip you up when you use AC_LANG_CPLUSPLUS
with libtool.
