libtool: link: cannot find the library `'

Dear all,

I'm not sure whether this is a bug of libtool, but I don't have any ideas left 
than to ask here on the list. Apologies in advance. Here's my problem:

I am using Gentoo and since a couple of months I have trouble building 
("emerging") software packages. Not all, but one out of 5 seems to break on a 
libtool error. For example, while building libdv:

D_REENTRANT -I/usr/include/gtk-1.2 -I/usr/include/glib-1.2 -

I have asked for help on the Gentoo forums and IRC-channels but unfortunately 
nobody was able to help me. Maybe one of you guys?

I am running Gentoo on a x86 box. Libtool version 1.4.3.
