| Hey,

| what is the best way to remove the checks of g++ and g77 when using
| AM_PROG_LIBTOOL ?

AM_PROG_LIBTOOL is not an autoconf macro, so you'll get better answers by
asking on the correct list ;)

The best way is to upgrade to libtool 2.2+, and use the new LT_LANG macro.
~ The name AM_PROG_LIBTOOL is deprecated, as part of the upgrade, you
should also use the newer name LT_INIT.
