I fail to see how configure will know the difference between

export CONFIG_SHELL=dash
./configure

and

CONFIG_SHELL=dash ./configure

Since configure sees the same environment variable setting.

Are you in a different Unix universe than me?

Or are you saying that I must also do

dash ./configure
