I am having trouble compiling on one of our AIX systems because of the "-DLT_CONFIG_H=<config.h>" command line flag being passed to the compiler. On this machine, there is a wrapper script that actually invokes the compiler. This wrapper script approach is common for parallel and high-performance computing. The output is documented here: https://www.cca-forum.org/bugs/babel/issue580

I am wondering if libltdl could be modified to use a different approach.

I use a wrapper for my compiler too. But my wrapper works. Why not just fix your wrapper?

It is too late to fix this issue in libtool now.
