Thanks.  The log file shows several failures that all look like this:

This is the same issue as in

> find / -name libltdl.la
> /home/pfromy/libtool-2.2.6/libltdl/libltdl.la
> /home/pfromy/libtool-2.2.6/libltdl/.libs/libltdl.la
> /home/pfromy/libtool-2.2.6/tests/testsuite.dir/69/_inst/lib/libltdl.la
> address@hidden libtool-2.2.6]# find / -name libltdl.so
> /home/pfromy/libtool-2.2.6/libltdl/.libs/libltdl.so
> /home/pfromy/libtool-2.2.6/tests/testsuite.dir/69/_inst/lib/libltdl.so

Hmm, that's interesting; it means that my previous hypothesis was not
correct.  But also, it shows another interesting detail: you are running
as root.  I don't try the test suite as root very often (but I guess I
should do it more often), and we should recommend users to not compile
as root in general.
