Reviewing Your Year Can Make The Next One Even Better
by David Ledoux
Every year in mid-December, a mild panic hits me as I glance at the calendar. Perhaps you can relate. "Oh no!" I exclaim, "Where did the year go! I have shopping to do! Parties and dinners too. My goals, my beautiful goals! I'll never make them in time!"
Let's face facts. By December 15th or so most people are swept up in the season. Businesses like ours slow a "little". It doesn't have to though. My buddy Peter hit Gold Director in December 1995 in his MLM business. The guy has been pulling a grand a week ever since from the incredible work he jammed into a single month nearly a decade ago. But most of us lose a little momentum around the holidays.
But with the year winding to a close, I'd like to share one of my favourite exercises with you. Take out a piece of paper, or better yet, your journal, and answer these three questions.
1. What books did I read this year?
2. What places did I visit this year?
3. What did I learn this year?
COME ON! Puuhhhleeze, play along. Just scribble down the 3 questions and take a minute to answer them. By doing so you'll instantly place yourself in the top 3% of society. You know, the ones who actually take ACTION on something. Exercise your "Action Muscles". Come on!
Hmmm... what did you discover? Want to make more money next year? Play this game with your mastermind team, your staff, and the key leaders in your organization. I promise you it will be revealing.
Based on the "ah-ha's" from that exercise, take a quick moment to make some plans for next year. Where will you go, what will you read, what will you learn, and why is it important to you? What obstacles could stop you from reaching those objectives? What advance plans can you make to deal with them?
The year is nearly over. It flew by. None of us did exactly what we wanted or expected. That's called LIFE. But next year can be even better. You have the power in your very hands right now. If you don't make plans for your life, someone else will!
I appreciate you! Have a fantastic holiday season!
