This an update on the crash I described earlier.

Cleaning /tmp/@900.0lilypond...

This was the line that killed it:

d8\pp[^\markup {pizz.} d,] a'[ d] a'[ d,] d[ r]

In other words, a note beamed with only a rest. I received a warning, but only a warning, so I gave it the same treatment that I would an unterminated slur. Removing the forced beam fixed everything. Perhaps this should have a greater status than just a warning?
