Summary of MIDI Bugs

lilypond's ability to churn out MIDI files has degenerated lately. Here are all the problems I have and still am experiencing:

* Long MIDI files. Occasionally I end up with a MIDI file that's incredibly long and filled with empty space. A 116K file lasts 30:28. * Every MIDI voice plays as the default, grand piano. My music sounds like a concert hall of pianists. Is NO one else having this problem? * Track 0 sounds like gunshots. Track 0, usually assigned to the solo violin in my score, is assigned the MIDI voice 'gunshots.' Ever heard a violin concerto played by a Howitzer?

I wish I could elaborate more on these, but these problems have been around for awhile and I can't figure out how to get rid of them. Are these bugs, or is it my problem?
