You are using a newer (or older?) version of python which causes the
syntax problems.  This has been fixed meanwhile.  I strongly suggest
that you get the latest development version of lilypond, 2.1.34 -- we
are near at the 2.2 release.  Any bug reports are welcome.  Debian
packages are available from
