Subject: | Excessive Grace Note Use = Bad |

The problem lies in grace notes. Apparently I have to watch how many times I use them. Each instance they steal a little time from an instrument. The main cause was having the solo play an 8 32nd note grace. Turning that into plain 32 notes brought the difference between solo and accompaniment down to about a quarter beat. The remaining difference comes from shorter, more mainstream graces: 2 16 notes. If I comment ALL the graces out from the cadenza, the two staffs play in sync beautifully.
This wasn't always a problem. Several pieces ago, I got away with 20 note graces.
