(even though the program package to check is probably called makeinfo,
texinfo is just one part of makeinfo).

I have downloaded the lilypond 2.2.0 source code to compile in SuSE 9.0. I followed the instructions exactly. When running ./configure, it says
it's ready to make and make install. In several different tries, after
rechecking all the necessary packages, the "make" results in a statement
"Too many errors! Gave up!", which repeats over and over until I can no
longer see in the shell what the errors were. I have succesfully compiled
a program before (Rosegarden), though I am new to Linux and may be doing
something wrong. I am downloading version 1.8 which has a SuSE 9.0 binary
to see if that will work. Is there an easy way to upgrade that to 2.2
without compiliation? Or do I have to wait for a bug fix or someone to
sucessfully compile a SuSE installer? Thank you very much. The program
looks really great, which is why I really want to get it working soon. Thanks a lot for your help.

Sincerely,
Kris Shaffer
