I had a look for online examples, and found

It's not *always* done, but page 4, system 3, measure 3, the second natural 
sign is partially above the previous note in the bar.  There are other 
examples in the same file.  I guess I would expect it to be done only in 
more extreme circumstances.  I haven't seen any examples where accidentals 
have completed overlapped another note, presumably because an accidental 
centred over or a under a note usually indicates how an trill or ornament 
would be played.
