Actually, I have never seen these symbols in print, just scribbled
into the music by hand. If you have any examples of printed music
with these symbols, a scanned copy of the symbol would be very

Actually, the way a symbol is added to the LilyPond font is normally
that someone needs it so urgently that he sits down and learns enough
of the MetaFont language to be able to do it himself. Occasionally, if
there are lots of requests on the mailing lists, some of the main
hackers will give it high enough priority to do the job.
Also, if you read the Essay on music printing starting at
http://lilypond.org/web/about/automated-engraving/, you will realize
that the main hackers have very high ambitions on the graphical layout
of each symbol.
