Thank you for your answer.
I don't use padding because what I want is horizontal shifting. I was once told
that, unless I use the extra-offset property, I would not have to worry about
collisions. (btw, is this statement about extra-offset still true?)
I don't have lily at hand to experiment these things now, but will soon.
