The first two, I don't know.  The last one I don't
think used to be present, if you look in the old
manuals they suggest spacing out the PianoStaff names
as follows "Piano     " but in the 2.7 manual some
fancier tricks are required.  Probably related to your
query.  \hspace is a straightforward and more flexible
option.
