Usually the works like this:
If the default stem direction is up,  the fa unison should show only the
feta font (glyph): noteheads.d1fa or noteheads.u2fa
If the default stem direction is down,  the fa unison should show only the
feta font (glyph): noteheads.u1fa or noteheads.d2fa
I think the easiest way to solve this problem would be to program the stem
length of the "fas" to be be long
enough to reach the far end of this notehead, for when you make the notehead
transparent, then you see that the stem goes halfway. Then the problem would
be taken care of with the override command.
I hope I can make sense. Anyway the attached files will help you, giving you
a better visual idea.
