Bug spacing

Dear LilyPond makers,

I've a problem using LilyPond 2.7.34
on a Mac iBook G4.
I'd like to use the \mark command
to indicate tempo changes like "Allegro"
But if the indication is very long
(for example "Allegro ma non troppo")
in an orchestral score, the first bar is
extended if some instruments have rests.
(problematic for short times like 2/4).
How can I make the lenght of a bar independant
of the lenght of this \mark indication ?
