Today is my first full day with LillyPond (2.7.36).
I've noticed two things:
1. Half-note heads are .105 longer than quater-note heads
(visually necessary, probably), and
2. Simultaneous note heads align on the left side.
This cases a problem with simultaneous quarter- and half-notes when their
stems connect on the right (up) side---the stems are misaligned by about half a
stem-width. It looks bad in print.
I don't know what the best solution is---maybe simultaneous noteheads
should align on the stem side? I'm currently using this as a workaround:
\once \override NoteHead #'stem-attachment = #'(0.895 . 0.0)
before any half-notes that have to appear in a stack with
quarter notes with stems on the right. This affects the bowl of the
notehead on the stem side, but looks better.
Thanks for LillyPond---you've got me hooked!
